Park County, CO - This week the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) began work to replace a bridge structure on CO Highway 9 near Guffey between MP 15.6 and 16.1. While the highway will remain open to motor vehicles, beginning next Monday, August 1, there will be a single lane closure with signalized, alternating traffic with speeds reduced to 25 MPH.
This traffic configuration will be in place for approximately three months and motorists are asked to use caution and expect delays, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. with occasional extended hours and weekend work.
The structure is currently two 84” diameter pipes that CDOT will be replacing with two ALBCs (aluminum box culverts). The structure is located approximately five miles south of the intersection at County Road 102 on CO Highway 9.
This project is part of the $43 million, CDOT Region 2 Bridge Bundle, designed to provide necessary improvements to 17 structures across three highways in the region, so motorists can be ensured that they are driving on more stable and up to date structures. The three rural highway corridors where structures are being replaced include:
- Colorado Highway (CO) 9
- US Highway 24
- US Highway 350
Construction completion of the Bridge Bundle project is slated for late 2024. For details and updates, please visit CDOT Region 2 Bridges Project Website.
