Dear Park County Business Operators & Owners,

Re: COVID-19 Phase 1 Business Reopening

As you are likely aware, the Governor issued a new order, D 2020 044, over the weekend which addresses the first phase of resuming business operations after the closures prompted by COVID-19. The Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment (CDPHE) also issued an order yesterday, 20-28, providing additional detail and requirements for the same. I encourage you all to familiarize yourself with these documents. Self-enforcement is a key factor in the success of our shared “new normal”.

It is anticipated that the Board of County Commissioners will execute an order supporting these new state orders on Thursday. It will be found here, on the agenda, once it is available. The primary difference will likely be that Phase 1 will begin in Park County on May 4, 2020; rather than May 1 as contained in the state orders. This will provide relevant businesses a few days to prepare for reopening.

Note that businesses being permitted to reopen next week - with the relevant restrictions and sanitation, health, masks, and social distancing requirements - include non-critical businesses, offices, and personal services. Restaurants, bars, and marijuana facilities may remain open on a delivery or curb-side basis. Short-term rentals remain closed. Gyms, recreation centers, performance venues and schools remain closed. Business-type-specific guidance is available for reference.

Prior to reopening, businesses are required to clean in accordance with the CDPHE guidance, implement employee health screening, follow protective gear measures, and maintain and post social distancing protocols. These requirements are not optional.

Thank you in advance for your assistance and cooperation. The county shares your appreciation and desire for a successful but safe economic recovery.

Sincerely,

Sheila Cross Sig
