PRESS RELEASE
July 18, 2019
On July 17, 2019, the Park County Sheriff’s Office received information from a confidential subject concerning the two runaway females that had been reported missing on July 7th. The subject advised that they had seen the two runaways in the area of 44th Avenue in Wheat Ridge at an apartment complex and were staying with a familythere. The Park County Sheriff’s Office immediately contacted the CBI and requested that they respond to the apartment complex in an attempt to locate the runaways. CBI along with the Wheat Ridge Police Department responded and within a short time were able to make contact by cellular phone with a male subject who related that he had just determined that the two juvenile females were the runaways from Park County and he was enroute to Park County to turn them in to the Sheriff’s Office. The male subject further advised that his daughter had brought them home and he had been of the understanding that they were his daughter’s friends. CBI made contact with the male subject on I-70 and escorted them to Park County. Both the runaways were brought to the Bailey substation by the male subject and his family. Once at the substation they were reunited with their parents. The male subject was
interviewed and released. Both the juveniles were physically unharmed. Information from both juveniles indicated that they had escaped out of a window of the home in Bailey where they had been originally staying, walked through the woods to Highway 285 and caught a ride to the Denver area.
