[ARCHIVED] Weston Pass Fire

Wildfire Update

07/05/2018 - The north and east sides of the fire continue to be secured and patrolled. Some resources have been moved to the west side of the fire. East winds are favorable for protecting the east side and CORA. If you see fire personnel in the subdivision north of County Road  22 and along County Rd 5 do not be alarmed.  They are checking the area for any potential issues should the fire change direction.  This is a proactive approach and not an indication of a current change to the fire.

Mandatory evacuations remain in effect for Black Mountain south of CR 22, and Campground of the Rockies (CORA).   Voluntary evacuations are in effect for Black Mountain north of CR 22 and Thousands Peaks.  Residents of those subdivisions should be prepared for a full evacuation.   Residents are encouraged to remove livestock and pets out of the area and to prepare to evacuate, or leave if concerned. Evacuation points are the Fairplay Community Center at 880 Bogue Street.

US Hwy 285 remains closed between Hwy 9 and Hwy 24 (Antero Junction).  Only residents with proof of residency may access County Roads 22, 18, 5, and 24.
