Homesteaded in 1862, the Salt Works Ranch derives its name from unusual saline springs on the property. Operated by the same family for over 140 years, the ranch is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has been designated as a Colorado Centennial Ranch by the Colorado Historical Society. This scenic ranch has more than 400 acres of irrigated hay meadow with senior water rights from Salt Creek. Group tours of the ranch may be arranged by contacting the landowners.
A conservation easement has been secured on 550 acres of the ranch with funding from Great Outdoors Colorado and the Park County Land & Water Trust Fund. The easement is held by the Colorado Cattlemen’s Agricultural Land Trust.
