bullet Rescue Information During Disaster in Park County

Monday, 2/18/08 AM:  The Emergency Phone Bank for last week's Park County Disaster Emergency is no longer active.  As of 5pm on Friday, February 15, 2008 the South Park Drift Incident is officially over. Park County Road & Bridge has resumed normal plowing operations and other volunteer crews and agencies have completed their efforts.  Residents will need to take steps to get their private driveways and roads plowed on their own.  Please remember that phone calls to 911 should only be made in EMERGENCY situations only.

Monday, 2/11/08 @5:00:  Park County has declared a disaster and emergency due to the weather conditions and the constant high winds. We are getting additional resources into the county to assist with removing snow and getting citizens out of blocked residences. This operation will take some time. In the event of an emergency, citizens should continue to call 911. Otherwise, we have set up a phone bank for people with needs at (719) 836-4160. This number will have someone available from 8am to 6pm each day.

A shelter has been opened for displaced citizens this evening at the South Park Recreation Center in Fairplay.

Further press releases and information will be available online in the future.

Friday, 2/8/08 @4:00pm:  Due to extreme winds and blowing snow, Park County citizens are encouraged to remain at their residences and off the roads until conditions improve. Road and Bridge crews and CDOT have been working around the clock to plow roads, but until winds die down, it is impossible to keep many roads open. The safest course is for all citizens to remain at home until weather improves and crews can open roads. Please continue to listen to the local radio stations and the news for further updates on weather and road conditions. Additionally, you can call 511 from any phone to get statewide road conditions. Again we encourage all citizens south of Kenosha Pass in Park County to remain inside and off the roads until conditions improve. Thank you.  --Lori R. Hodges, Director of Emergency Management, (719) 836-4372
